The joy of the youth - in the footstep of the Canadian Saints

The 2024 edition of the famous Canadian Martyrs’ Camp is aroud the corner! This year again, it will take place at the iconic Camp Attawandaron for overnight camp, benefitting from the scenic location, access to the cabins, chapel, facilities, canoeing, and proximity to Pinery Park and Lake Huron.

We are looking forward to this incredible occasion to build Catholic memories in the minds of our youth, from the attendance at daily Mass to the story of the Canadian Martyrs, along with games and competitions as teams. Come and meet the Canadian Martyrs!

Letter from the chaplain to the campers

Dear Campers,

A long time ago, when Canada was just discovered, many missionaries came from Europe to bring the Catholic Faith to our country. Many of them gave their lives and signed with their own blood the love they had for our souls.

They planted the Cross and they irrigated it with their own blood. The Cross is not a dead tree, is not only a rough piece of wood, the Cross is above all a living tree, a tree that produces the most beautiful fruits of holiness.

If the Jesuits came from so far away, leaving their families and countries to live among the mosquitos and the Indians, it is to bring us the Cross. It is time for you to discover this Cross that stands in the plains of Huronia. It is time for you to plant this Cross in the Huronia of your soul, where so many Indians need to be converted. The desobedient Indian, the lazy Indian, the gluttonous Indian...it is time to convert them and the best occasion is this camp.

Therefore take this letter as an important invitation. You need to convert the Indians, you need to meet the great missionaries who founded our country and gave us the Faith. On our canoes, we will explore the shores of this country, after kneeling at the foot of the altar for the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, sun of our day, hope of the Indians!

May God bless you all, dear little missionaries,

Father Michel Rion
