Good Friday is a day of fasting and abstinence, and this under pain of grave sin, for those who are so bound.
Drivers needed: Anyone who would be able to pick up priests from the Montreal airport on Monday April 22 and drop them off on Saturday April 27 is asked to phone Saint Joseph Centre or to send an e-mail to the following address: [email protected]
Easter Communion: Every baptised person having attained the age of reason is bound to make his Easter Communion – that is: to receive the Holy Eucharist during Paschaltide, and, in order to so worthily, to go to Confession. In Canada, the time period during which one may make his Easter Communion extends from Ash Wednesday until the Feast of the Most Holy Trinity (the Octave Day of Pentecost). The Easter Communion precept is but the strict minimum required by Holy Mother Church. It is in no way a recommendation on the part of the Church to do only so little. On the contrary, the Church encourages and always has encouraged frequent Confession and Communion. Especially in our difficult times, it is important to receive the Sacraments frequently.
