Crusade for the Conquest of the Holy Land of Rome

August 1, 2016

Dear Friends and Benefactors,

Archbishop Lefebvre once called Rome our holy land. When a good pope issues commands from Rome, he can sanctify the whole world. When a bad Pope makes statements which confuse and scandalize the faithful, the whole world suffers.  So, the triumph of the Immaculate Heart, for which we pray so much, will have to be a triumph in the first place in Rome.  Our Lady of Fatima told us to pray much for the Pope.

Bishop Fellay is calling another Rosary Crusade, beginning on August 15, 2016.  He asks us to join daily sacrifices to our daily rosaries.  Rightly so, since “unless you do penance, you shall all likewise perish” (Luke 13: 3).  He is also asking to practice the devotion of the five First Saturdays. Let us recall briefly the history of this devotion and then the reasons for the number five.

On December 10, 1925, the Most Holy Virgin appeared to Sister Lucy (then a postulant of the Institute of the Dorothean Sisters at Pontevedra, Spain) and by Her side, elevated on a luminous cloud, was the Child Jesus. The Most Holy Virgin rested Her hand on her shoulder and as She did so, She showed Her Heart encircled by thorns, which She was holding in Her other hand. At the same time, the Child Jesus said: “Have compassion on the Heart of your Most Holy Mother, covered with thorns, with which ungrateful men pierce it at every moment and there is none to make an act of reparation to remove them.” Then the Most Holy Virgin said: “Look, my daughter, at My Heart, surrounded with thorns with which ungrateful men pierce Me at every moment by their blasphemies and ingratitude. You at least try to console Me and announce in My name that I promise to assist, at the moment of death, with all the graces necessary for salvation, all those who (1) on the first Saturday of five consecutive months,  (2) shall confess, (3) receive Holy Communion, (4) recite five decades of the Rosary and (5) keep Me company for fifteen minutes while meditating on the fifteen mysteries of the Rosary,(6) with the intention of making reparation to Me."

Few people know the reasons for the number five in this devotion.  Our Lord explained it to Sister Lucy: “the reason is simple. There are five types of offences and blasphemies committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary:

“1 - Blasphemies against the Immaculate Conception”

Comment: many events and documents of the ecumenical movement in the last 50 years have reduced the Immaculata to an ordinary sinful woman. Some of these texts have even been approved by the Vatican, such as the document of the “Groupe des Dombes”, in 1997. No, She alone is sinless.

“2 - Blasphemies against Her Virginity”

Comment: the torrent of impurity, the evil of pornography, and the madness of the gender theory flooding the world at present, are aimed at destroying respect for virginity and discrediting the virginity of Mary.  God said that there would be enmities between the Woman and the serpent and between “her seed and thy seed” (Gen. 3: 15). Since the serpent cannot touch this Tower of Ivory, he attacks Her children.

3 - Blasphemies against Her Divine Maternity, in refusing at the same time to recognize Her as the Mother of men”

Comment: Here too, there are direct blasphemies against Her Motherhood and indirect blasphemies against the consequence of Her Motherhood, which is Her Mediation.  The title of Mediatrix of all Graces was on the agenda at the Council, but it was stopped as being anti-ecumenical.

“4 - The blasphemies of those who publicly seek to sow in the hearts of children, indifference or scorn or even hatred of this Immaculate Mother”

Comment: the modern sex education programs in public and “Catholic” schools sow impurity in the hearts of children. This naturally leads to contempt of the most pure Mother.

“5 - The offences of those who outrage Her directly in Her holy images.”

Comment: St. Pius X was right is saying that modernism “is the synthesis of all heresies”.  Iconoclasm, the destruction of sacred images, is an ancient heresy that has revived in the last fifty years with the destruction of so many statues and images of the Virgin Mary, and the production of so many ugly images.

Our Lord concluded: “Here, my daughter, is the reason why the Immaculate Heart of Mary inspired Me to ask for this little act of reparation.” (May 29, 1930)

I urge all our readers to practice the devotion of the First Saturday in the coming months.  If you have already done this once, do it again, praying for members of your families and for the Church.  Let us never forget: it is a devotion in reparation, to console Our Blessed Lady.  If for any serious reasons you cannot actually do it on the first Saturday itself, ask your confessor, as Our Lord told Sister Lucy that a confessor can allow you to do it on another day.

Bishop Fellay also wants us to wear the Miraculous Medal and diffuse it around us.  Although it is not directly mentioned at Fatima, like the brown scapular, the making and the wearing of the Miraculous Medal are nevertheless clear demands of Our Lady to St. Catherine Labouré at la Rue du Bac, Paris, France, in the famous vision of November 27, 1830.  This is how St. Catherine Labouré described the apparition: “There now formed around the Blessed Virgin a frame, slightly oval, upon which appeared, in golden letters, these words: 'O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to Thee!' Then I heard a voice which said: 'Have a medal struck like this, persons who wear it indulgenced, will receive great graces, especially if they wear it around the neck; graces will be bestowed in abundance upon those who have confidence'.”

You will find forms for the Rosary Crusade in our various chapels. A few times during the coming months we will ask for results to ensure we are on target!

News from the District:  For the first time ever in the SSPX district of Canada an International Congress of the Legion of Mary was held last July 23 to 25 in Toronto . Two days of conferences and one day of spiritual guidance fortified the Legionaries present. They came to Toronto from Vancouver, Winnipeg and Montreal with a special delegate from the Philippines who is the vice-president of the SSPX Legion of Mary Regia there.  A gallery of photos is available on our website, and some audio conferences presenting the Legion of Mary are also available from the district house.

Upcoming event:

  • Fatima 2017: there will be a couple of groups from Canada that will go to Fatima for the international SSPX pilgrimage, next August 19-20, 2017.  Contact the district office for details.

All for the glory of God and for the triumph of His Immaculate Mother.
